You might be wondering, where is Chuuk? Where in the world are you Becca? Well I am here to answer a few of your questions. But only a few because I really don't know where I am going either. You see the BIG yellowYAP? If you count five lines down from there you will see the word Chuuk. Yes, that is where I am.
Chuuk is one of the four states of Micronesia. The other three are Kosrae, Pohnpei, and Yap. It is 49 sq. miles and has a population of 54, 595 people.
Within Chuuk is the Chuuk Lagoon that is a naturally protected "harbor." It is home to the some of the world's best WWII wreck diving. Also sharks, which I happen to think are rather scary. If you look at the picture to your left all the little X's are where Japanese sunken ships are.
Chuuk means "Mountain" and is made up of 11 major islands within itself. These eleven are Tol, Udot Fala-Beguets, Romanum, and Eot of Faichuk group, and Moen, Fefan, Dublon, Uman, Param, and Tsis. The high temperature is 87 degrees F and the low is 75 degrees F. I think I can deal with that.
Been there, done that, got the T-shirt. Literally. :)
ReplyDeleteI wish you all the best as you teach in the middle of nowhere.
